In this day and age, it is tempting to do all of your shopping online. Indeed, online shopping offers the ease of never having to leave your home to shop and buying items by simply entering your credit card number over the internet. There are certain items however where it’s simply necessary to make the trip to the store. One such instance is buying shoes. It’s simply far too easy to be disappointed and end up sending shoes back through the mail when you could have saved yourself the time and trouble with one quick trip to the store.

Knowing your shoe size well does not mean you can order shoes that same size online and always get the same snug fit. Shoe sizes are known for having a slight variance across brands and a 13 from one brand may be closer to a 12 at a different shoemaker. Go to the store with knowledge of your shoe size and what brands have historically fit well.

Take advantage of the fact that you have a salesman at your disposal. Try on several pairs of sneakers or shoes and make sure you’re really getting the best available pair for you. After all, you are the person who will be wearing the shoes each day and it’s your comfort with the shoes that’s most important.

Last, shoes you order online do not always arrive looking as great a the picture you saw on a website. Much like the burger at a fast food restaurant doesn’t always resemble what is actually served, shoes can arrive with only a faint resemblance to the online picture.
